Alexander Hertel-Fernandez, PhD '16 in Government & Social Policy, is the winner of the American Political Science Association's Harold D. Lasswell Prize for best PhD dissertation in the field of public policy. Now Assistant Professor of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University, Alex's Harvard PhD dissertation examined corporate interests and conservative mobilization in the U.S. in recent decades. The prize is co-sponsored by the Policy Studies Association.

Alex has three books underway. His first, Politics at Work: How Employers Deploy Their Workers to Shape American Politics and Public Policy, will be published by Oxford University Press in January 2018. Learn more about his work:
