Brendan Saloner's research focuses on the intersection of health and social policy, particularly on the role of health insurance in promoting access to care, financial protection, and wellness. He serves as co-leader of the Addiction and Overdose working group of the Bloomberg American Health Initiative at Johns Hopkins University.

Winner of the AcademyHealth Alice S. Hersh Emerging Investigator Award, 2019. The award recognizes scholars early in their careers as health services researchers who show exceptional promise for future contributions.
