Neil J. Cummins is Professor of Economic History at the London School of Economics, a Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research, and a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences. His research explores “life, love and death”: the fundamental forces underlying the origins and dynamics of inequality over the long run. He applies econometrics to new archival data. Currently, he is quantitatively analysing the last words of the English, from a new collection of testaments, 1258 to 1858, to create new insights into the psychological, social, and economic dynamics of wealth and belief. His research papers are available at neilcummins.com.
