New Leadership at the Stone Program in Wealth Distribution, Inequality, and Social Policy

We are delighted to announce that Professor Deirdre Bloome has been appointed Director of the Harvard Kennedy School’s James M. and Cathleen D. Stone Program in Wealth Distribution, Inequality, and Social Policy. Professor Bloome serves as the Peter and Isabel Malkin Professor of Public Policy at the Kennedy School. She is also a Professor of Sociology in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and a faculty member of the Harvard Center for Population and Development Studies. She starts her additional appointment as Director of the Stone Program on July 1.

Professor Bloome's outstanding scholarship on socioeconomic inequality and mobility, racial inequality, family demography, and quantitative methods has been widely published in leading outlets and has received numerous awards. Professor Bloome's distinguished record of advancing interdisciplinary scholarship, including through her leadership roles at the journals Science Advances and Demography, makes her an ideal Director for the Stone Program.

Professor Bloome succeeds Professor Maya Sen as Director of the Stone Program. Professor Sen serves as Professor of Public Policy at the Kennedy School. Professor Sen led the Program with exceptional vision and dedication. We are lucky that Professor Sen will remain involved with the Stone Program's vital work.

Please join us in thanking Maya Sen and congratulating Deirdre Bloome!
