    The Harvard Multidisciplinary Program in Inequality & Social Policy, established in 1998 as a National Science Foundation initiative, brings together Harvard PhD students across the social sciences and policy disciplines. 

    The program's PhD Scholars fulfill all academic requirements of their home discipline, while also undertaking a complementary multidisciplinary program of study and research on issues of inequality and social policy.

    A graduate training fellowship for Harvard Ph.D. students in the social sciences, originally developed with the National Science Foundation. Harvard Ph.D. students may apply at the end of their first or second of doctoral study at Harvard.

    The PhD Scholar awards are open to Harvard PhD students in the social sciences who apply at the end of their first or second year (G-1 or G-2) of doctoral study.

    Eight to ten James M. and Cathleen D. Stone PhD Scholar fellowships in Inequality and Wealth Concentration and two Malcolm Hewitt Wiener PhD Scholar fellowships in Poverty and Justice are available each year.
