Maria G. Rendon, Assistant Professor of Planning, Policy, and Design and of Sociology, University of California, Irvine.

Awardee | Maria G. Rendon (Ph.D. '09)  

Maria G. Rendon has been named a 2014 Hellman Fellow, an honor designed to "support the research of promising assistant professors who show capacity for great distinction in their chosen fields of endeavor."  

Rendon will use the award to carry out research on "Latino Young Men and Their Immigrant Parents in Post-Recession Los Angeles."

Rendon earned her Ph.D. in Sociology and Social Policy from Harvard in 2009 and is now Assistant Professor of Planning, Policy, and Design and of Sociology at the University of California, Irvine.

The Hellman Fellows Fund supports junior faculty research on the ten campuses of the UC system and at four private institutions.
