Do scholars have the right tools for measuring racial attitudes in the age of Trump? We demonstrate that the attitudes measured by ubiquitous scales of racial attitudes do not align with the common scholarly interpretation of these scales. And we argue that current events in American politics have revealed the need for scholars to rethink the theory and measurement of racial attitudes.**[View paper](http://people.hmdc.harvard.edu/~renos/papers/CarneyEnos/CarneyEnos.pdf)**
